Citizens of the European Union do not need a visa. Citizens of many other countries may travel to Germany and stay up to three months without a visa or with a tourist visa.
Participants from many countries outside Europe need a visa to travel to Germany. If you wish to stay longer than three months, you may need a special visa or a student visa to attend a language course.
As soon as you have booked your course and accommodation and we have received the full payment, we send you a confirmation document to present to the German Embassy / German Consulate. There are no fees for the document itself or for regular shipping. If you require quick delivery, there are additional shipping charges for a courier service.
Please let us know if there are any delays or problems with your visa. If you are not granted a visa, please send us written proof from the German foreign representation in your country. If you have made any payments, they will be refunded minus a refund processing fee of 150 €.
Please consult a German Embassy or German Consulate in your home country for visa requirements. For more information, visit the German Foreign Office website:
In order to attend our German courses in Germany, you must provide proof of health, accident and liability insurance coverage that is valid in Germany. In many cases, your health insurance must provide the same coverage as German health insurance in order to be eligible for a visa or residence permit. Please check your insurance policy before you travel to Germany and bring any and all relevant documentation of your insurance coverage.
If your insurance is not valid in Germany, you may take out an insurance policy through your selected Carl Duisberg Training Center. The fees for health, liability and accident insurance are 20 € per week.
Once you have booked your course, you can plan your journey. If you wish, Carl Duisberg Centren can organize a pick up from the airport or train station when you arrive to take you to your accommodation.
Please book your flight or train trip so that you arrive at the nearest train station, and please inform the service team at your selected Carl Duisberg Training Center about your itinerary prior to your arrival. We would also be glad to help you at your departure.
Prices may vary for groups of participants on the same flight / on the same train. Please ask us about group prices in advance.
All Carl Duisberg Training Centers gladly offer administrative services to help participants with bureaucratic matters. We can accompany you to appointments at the local immigration office, help you arrange for medical care and, of course, offer support in case of an emergency.
Participants of our German Courses at all Carl Duisberg Training Centers have free WiFi. Computers with Internet access are also available to course participants. If you would like to know more about Internet access at your accommodation, please consult the website section on accommodation.
