Berlin is a dynamic and creative city, linking Eastern and Western Europe. The eclectic capital city is rich in contrasts and appeal and offers visitors unique insights into German culture.
Just around the corner from our language school are the Hanns Eisler Music Academy and the Humboldt University. The lively Friedrichstraße with its stores and cafés and the popular boulevard "Unter den Linden" invite you to stroll.
Take in the city’s many historic attractions: Brandenburg Gate, Charlottenburg Palace, Museum Island, the Berlin Cathedral and the Reichstag. Then enjoy modern Berlin, a hub for modern art with numerous museums and a center for science, research, media and trade shows.
There are many exciting attractions and events in Berlin all year round. The Berlinale Film Festival is in February, the Museumsinsel Festival is held from May to September, the Carnival of Cultures is in May, Christopher Street Day is in June, the "Love Parade" is in July, the Berlin Gauklerfest is in August and the Popdeurope Festival and the Berlin Philharmonic Foundation Music Festival are in September. Art Forum Berlin is in the beginning of October which leads into the festive pre-Christmas season. Something for every taste!
There is also much to discover outside of Berlin. Potsdam, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is only a few kilometers away, and with the S-Bahn you can reach the historic old town and Sanssouci Palace in just 30 minutes from downtown Berlin. Countless lakes and forests, old towns and idyllic villages near Berlin, especially in the state of Brandenburg, invite for excursions. Day trips and weekend trips are easy to organize due to the excellent infrastructure. Even a trip to the sea (Warnemünde/Baltic Sea) is possible, a short trip to Hamburg or a weekend in Dresden.
